The types of glass used in windows have a huge impact on our comfort and daily functioning. It is precisely on them that the amount of light, heat, or sound entering the room depends. Check what type of window glass to use depending on your needs.

Types of Glass Panes in Residential Construction
In windows designed for residential construction, double-chamber insulating glass units are commonly used. They usually consist of three panes of glass. The space between them is filled with an inert gas, usually argon. However, the panes may differ from each other in individual windows and be characterized by different properties, which can be very easily observed in some cases. However, there are types of glass where the division based on different characteristics is much more difficult at first glance.
Double-Chamber Insulating Glass Units
Since the larger the glazed area of the window, the greater the potential heat loss, it is worth using glass panes with parameters that improve thermal insulation. Currently, double-chamber insulating glass units are the standard that meets modern building requirements. In the past, single-chamber panes were commonly used, which were characterized by higher heat loss and lower energy efficiency.

Thermal Insulating Glass Panes
This is the standard and most common type of glass pane used in window production. They are transparent and do not cause optical distortion. The thermal insulating glass unit consists of float glass panes and thermofloat glass panes. The latter are covered with a coating of precious metals.
Frosted and Ornamental Glass Panes
Ornamental Glass Panes
They can serve a decorative function thanks to various patterns on their surface. This allows you, for example, to match the window's appearance to the interior design. But that's not all - ornamental glass panes let light into the room, but at the same time blur and distort the image on the other side. This solution is used in rooms where greater privacy is essential, such as in toilets or basements.
Frosted Glass Panes
Frosted glass panes are an alternative to ornamental glass if you want greater privacy while maintaining access to daylight. They have a matte, uniform surface that disperses light and prevents outsiders from looking inside the room. Thanks to their neutral appearance, they blend well with various styles of windows and interiors - from classic to modern. They are often used in bathrooms, internal doors, and office spaces.

Integrated Blinds
Check how integrated blinds work
Integrated Blinds
Integrated blinds are an elegant and functional solution that provides privacy and allows you to regulate the amount of light entering the room.
Placed between the panes of glass in the insulating glass unit, the blinds are protected against dirt and damage. By changing the tilt angle of the slats, you can easily control the degree of sun exposure and visibility from the outside. Integrated blinds are available in various colors, allowing them to be matched to the style of windows and interior decor. The solution works well in houses, apartments, or offices.

Safety Glass Panes
They consist of a type of glass that, when broken, protects against potential injury or the pane being knocked out. How is this possible? Safety glass can be made of tempered or laminated glass. The former shatters into small pieces with blunt edges in the event of an accident, significantly reducing the risk of injury. Laminated glass, on the other hand, consists of two panes and a PVB (polyvinyl butyral) film, which can hold the pane together even when broken. In addition to minimizing the risk of injury, safety glass is also more resistant to damage, preventing potential breakage.
Acoustic Glass Panes
They reduce the intensity of sounds entering from outside. They are ideal for areas near roads, railway tracks, airports, or bustling city centers. The thickness of the glass pane is crucial for this type of glass - the thicker the panes, the greater the sound insulation. It is worth noting that acoustic insulation also goes hand in hand with thermal insulation. Additional elements that enhance sound protection may include, for example, elastic pane connections or acoustic films installed in the insulating glass unit.
Acoustic PVB Film
The acoustic PVB film additionally used in windows effectively reduces external noise, improving the acoustic comfort of the interiors. When combined with laminated glass, it provides higher sound insulation while increasing the safety and strength of the glass.
Sun Protection Glass Panes
They reduce the amount of solar radiation that enters the rooms, simultaneously preventing interiors from overheating. Sun protection glass includes, for example, Antisol glass, which reduces the amount of light, or Reflex glass, which reflects part of the radiation thanks to a layer of metal oxides or inert gases. Sun protection glass can take on various shades, such as green, blue, or gray. Such solutions are essential, especially when, for example, large glazing of a winter garden is bathed in sun all afternoon. The glass panes are also ideal for modern office buildings with glass facades.
Selective Glass
This is a modern type of sun protection glass that limits excessive heating of rooms in summer and retains heat inside the building in winter. Thanks to a special selective coating, it transmits daylight while reflecting thermal radiation, which helps maintain a comfortable temperature all year round and reduce energy consumption for heating and cooling interiors. Selective glass is perfect for modern energy-efficient homes, office buildings, and facilities with large glazed areas, where thermal comfort is important along with the need for interior lighting. Thanks to its high Solar Factor (SF) coefficient, it also enables solar energy gain during the winter, increasing energy savings.

Fire-Resistant Glass Panes
These are special glass panes that - as the name suggests - have fire-resistant properties. Fire-resistant glass consists of two panes of tempered glass and a special gel between them. This designed structure creates temporary fire protection and is resistant to high temperatures.
